Common troubleshooting methods for plug valves

The following are common faults and troubleshooting methods for reference:

1. Difficulty in operating the plug valve switch: The difficulty in operating the switch is not due to the tight fit between the plug and the valve body, but rather due to a severe lack of sealing grease on the surface of the plug, resulting in a loss of lubrication on the plug surface. At this point, you should add sealing grease while gradually opening and closing the valve. You will find that the opening is getting larger and larger, for example, you can only open 50 degrees at the beginning, and then switch back and forth two or three times to gradually open and close normally at 90 degrees. After completely normal operation, continue to add some sealing grease to consolidate and ensure that the surface of the plug is fully lubricated. Under normal liposuction conditions, such situations do not occur.

2. Internal leakage of plug valve: 1) Insufficient sealing grease on the surface of the plug, sealing grease should be added to ensure sufficient distribution of sealing grease on the surface of the plug to quickly solve the problem.; 2) In rare cases, after increasing the pressure until it stabilizes, the plug needs about two minutes of self adjustment. The plug is moved to the low-pressure end so that the entire plug surface is tightly attached to the surface of the valve body, achieving true sealing. So the internal leakage within these two minutes does not mean that the valve seal is not tight; 3) If the internal leakage still cannot be solved after sufficient grease injection, please check if the adjustment screw at the bottom center is loose, for example, the adjustment screw of the 12 "Class600/Class900 valve should have a torque of 475NM. The reason for the loosening of the adjustment screws is due to strong bumps during transportation, where the plug hit the valve cover and the fastening screws around the valve cover became loose. Tightly adjust the screw by 1/4 turn to 2/3 turn to restore good performance. This situation is more pronounced for valves larger than 10 inches.

3. Slight leakage of the valve cover at the bottom of the plug valve: The reason may be due to strong shaking during transportation, the plug hitting the valve cover, and loose fastening screws around the valve cover. After tightening the screws, good performance can be restored. This situation is more pronounced for valves with a large diameter of 10 "or more.

4. Slight leakage of the valve stem or above of the plug valves: 1) indicates insufficient filling of the valve stem, please add filling to understand and solve the problem. Filling is the process of inserting small sections of packing into the packing check valve and slowly tightening the packing screws to push the packing inward - this process can be repeated; 2) Add sufficient packing as many times as possible, with a slow filling process to facilitate the full flow of packing around the valve stem. When adding, use another wrench to clamp the packing check valve to prevent it from being broken due to uneven force. Finally, leave about 3 buckles of the filling screw on the outside; 3) Sometimes the packing cannot continue to be added, but the medium is still leaking out through the valve stem. At this point, please rotate the valve. The rotation of the valve stem will distribute the surrounding packing more thoroughly, which is beneficial for complete sealing. At this point, it will be discovered that more fillers can be added.
